New ICO guidance has been released for data protection tips for early years settings to provide greater clarity for pre-schools or nurseries and EYFS in schools. The publication is full of useful guidance to consider the personal data that may be used and how to keep it safe, such as paper documents being stored in locked filing cabinets or cupboards and electronic data being shielded by staff having individual accounts with complex passwords. An awareness of data across the organisation supports privacy by design and makes it easier to avoid a data breach or handle a Subject Access Request should they arrive.
The turn IT on data protection team work with many pre-schools and nurseries. Please contact us if you have data protection concerns and we will endeavour to find a practical solution to keep data safe without impacting on the daily running of the setting.
